Toxicity studies of THC

Safety Studies on Tetrahydrocurcuminoids

Safety assessment was carried out on THCs for 28 days. Although there were several THC efficacy studies conducted in animals.

Recently, Sabinsa conducted a single cantered, open labelled clinical trial in humans for establishing safety of oral supplementation of THCs. The study enrolled 20 healthy human volunteers and orally administered 300 mg of THC once daily for 28 days. Laboratory parameters analyzed at the baseline and at end of the study showed no significant difference in haematological parameters such as leukocyte count, erythrocyte count, haemoglobin, hematocrit, platelets etc. There was no significant change in Body Mass Index (BMI) and adverse effects observed during the study.

The study concludes that THCs orally supplemented at a dose of 300 mg once daily for 28 days is safe.
